Lewis Becomes Chairman, CEO and Visionary for Higher Education Web Platform

SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Nov. 16, 2000--Campus Pipeline, Inc., a higher education Internet technology provider, announced today that Thomas K. Lewis, Jr. has been named chief executive officer.

Lewis, former CEO of Ameritrade Holding Corporation, will be responsible for the overall strategic direction of the company. Lewis will also serve as chairman of Campus Pipeline`s board of directors.

''Tom Lewis is a technological visionary who was instrumental in transforming Ameritrade into the major player it is today,'' said David Peterschmidt, president and CEO of Inktomi Corporation and member of Campus Pipeline`s board of directors. ''Tom knows how to master business issues and harness technology for immediate, tangible benefit. His leadership will take Campus Pipeline beyond the `high-tech` early adopters into the mass market.''

At Ameritrade, Lewis initially shared the office of CEO with the company`s founder and chairman, before becoming sole CEO. During his tenure he implemented a technology transformation that reduced operating costs to an industry low and established the online brokerage firm as one of the most respected players in the industry.

''At this point in my career, I wanted an opportunity to build a company that is poised for greatness as a market leader,'' said Lewis. ''The fact that these efforts will positively impact higher education ignites my professional passion. Campus Pipeline has the potential to shape the online college experience and benefit millions of college students, faculty, staff and alumni. The company has the best technology in the industry and it is able to build lifelong relationships with one of the most important segments of the new
economy.''

Prior to Ameritrade, Lewis was president of TenFold Insurance Systems Group, executive vice president and chief information officer of United States Fidelity and Guaranty Company, co-founder of Seer Technologies Inc., and chief information officer for the Executive Office of the President of the United States at the White House during the Reagan administration. He also held executive technology positions at First Boston Corporation and American Express.

''Tom`s impressive accomplishments, experience in high growth environments, and extensive network of business relationships will open numerous opportunities for Campus Pipeline,'' said Darin Gilson, president and chief operating officer of Campus Pipeline. ''Tom is the perfect CEO to extend our market leadership.''

More than 600 campuses have licensed the Campus Pipeline(TM) Web platform, 65 of which are using it today to create comprehensive online campuses that connect administrative services, academic programs, and community building tools under one online roof.

''Tom Lewis brings a depth of experience and a sophisticated perspective to his new position at Campus Pipeline,'' said Dr. David Gardner, past president of the University of California system and the University of Utah and a member of Campus Pipeline`s board of directors. ''It is an exceptionally good fit both for Tom and for the company.''

David Nosal, managing director of Korn/Ferry International`s northwest region and one of the industry`s top CEO recruiters, conducted the national search on Campus Pipeline`s behalf.
