NATIONWIDE SEARCH FOR TOP COLLEGIATE JOURNALIST ANNOUNCED
CrossPad National Journalism Scholarship Award
Winner to Be Named in September `99
(CPWire) LINCOLN, R.I. -- March 24, 1999 -- The Cross Pen Computing Group (PCG), a
division of A.T. Cross Company (ASE:ATX.A) announces the CrossPad National Journalism
Scholarship Award, to honor excellence in the field of college journalism.
``Cross is well known for producing quality writing instruments and an award-winning line
of high tech digital notepads,`` states Robert Byrnes, president and CEO of Cross Pen
Computing Group. ``We are seeking to recognize and show our support for a new generation
of writers and are proud to offer a scholarship to the winner from the multitude of
talented, budding journalists submitting entries for this award.``
The scholarship winner will be awarded a $5,000 check and a CrossPad portable digital
notepad (PDN). CrossPads will also be awarded to second and third place finalists.
A prestigious panel of judges will assist in the final review and selection process
including Daniel Okrent, editor-at-large of Time, Inc., Steve Young, Senior Managing
Editor of Editor & Publisher, and Sreenath Sreenivasan associate professor Columbia
University`s Graduate School of Journalism.
To be eligible for consideration, all applicants must meet the following criteria:
* Be currently enrolled as a full-time student in a two-year or four-year accredited U.S.
college.
* Submit a piece written by the applicant and previously published in a
college newspaper or magazine.
* All submissions must be in their original published form.
* Submissions must have been published between the dates 9/1/98 and 7/1/99.
* Only non-fiction works will be accepted.
* Submissions must be 5,000 words in length or less.
* If you wish to have submission returned, you must include a self-addressed
stamped envelope with the proper postage.

1999. The award winner will be announced on or before September 30, 1999.
