ATTENTION COLLEGE STUDENTS
- KEEP IN TOUCH OVER SUMMER BREAK and SAVE MONEY USING THE WEB
(CPWire) BASKING RIDGE, N. J.
-- The stress of finals is just a memory. Everything you own
is packed and ready to go for the trip home. But, there's something
missing - a way to keep in touch with your friends over the summer.
Why not use the `Net to keep in touch, just as you
use it throughout the school year to keep informed? According
to Student Monitor, LLC, the leading research service studying
the college audience, 89 percent of you use the Internet, clocking
an average of almost six hours per week online. And you visit
sites primarily for information. Student Monitor reports that,
regularly, half of the 10 Internet sites college students visit
most often are news sources: ESPN, CNN, NY Times, MSNBC and Wall
Street Journal. The student-targeted site you visit the most
is JOBTRAK, and it made your top-ten list as well.
AT&T; has lots of Internet-based ways to help college students
get the headlines from their friends over summer break without
''breaking the bank.'' Here`s how you can use the `Net to stay
connected.
* Call your friends using AT&T`s phone-to-phone Internet
telephony service, AT&T; Connect `N Save(R), which offers a rate
of 7.5 cents per minute for calls made from selected cities;
elsewhere, the service offers a low calling card rate of 15 cents
per minute. To sign up, go to www.connectnsave.att.com or call 1-800-345-0995, ext. 1043.
* Have virtual get-togethers over the `Net using AT&T`s Click2Dial(SM)
Conferencing, which lets you set up and manage a conference call
with up to seven people for 15 cents per minute per person billed
to your credit card. To use it, go to www.click2dial.att.com.
* Find a friend`s hometown address using AT&T`s AnyWho (www.anywho.com) Web site without
charge or by calling AT&T; 00 INFO(SM) service, which charges
99 cents for directory service for up to two local listings or
two long distance lookups. With 00 INFO you don`t need to know
the area code or exact city.
* Send email using AT&T; WorldNet(R) Service, which offers flexible
pricing plans, including $21.95 for unlimited usage, and gives
every subscriber six mailbox IDs to share with the family. Go
to www.att.net to find out
more.
With AT&T; and the Web, there`s no need to tell your college friends
''good bye'' for the summer. You can keep in touch, affordably,
all summer long and get back together in the fall without missing
a beat.
AT&T; SERVICES TO TRY THIS SUMMER
Internet telephony phone calls
AT&T; Connect `N Save Service lets you make long distance calls
using Internet Protocol (IP) telephony over AT&T`s private
IP network. You don`t need a computer or any special equipment,
just a Touch-Tone phone. And you won`t need to change your current
long distance service or calling plan to begin saving today.
Calls to U.S. locations are only 7.5 cents per minute when using
the Connect `N Save local access numbers in the Atlanta, Baltimore,
Boston, Miami, Phoenix, San Jose and San Francisco areas.
Anyone outside these cities can use a nationwide toll-free access
number to make long distance calls anywhere in the U.S. for a
low calling card rate of 15 cents per minute. And there are no
fees or monthly minimums. Low international rates are available
and vary by country.
To use AT&T; Connect `N Save Service, you prepay for a set amount
of calling in units of $25, $50 or $100. When you make a call,
the service automatically tells you how much time and money you
have left in your Connect `N Save account. You can replenish
your account at any time with a credit card, check or money order.
You also can sign up for the auto-refresh option that automatically
adds additional dollars to your account by charging your credit
card when your account balance is low.
New customers who purchase $25 or more of calling time will receive
60 free minutes.
To sign up for the service, visit the web site at http://www.connectnsave.att.com or call 1-800-345-0995, extension 1043
between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. ET.
Virtual get-togethers
AT&T; Click2Dial Conferencing service lets you use the Web to
set up and manage a conference call with up to seven people without
operator assistance. To use the service, go to www.click2dial.att.com, enter your phone number, the phone
numbers of the people you want to call, and a credit card number.
AT&T; Click2Dial Conferencing acts as a virtual operator and places
all the calls for you on the AT&T; network. Only the host of the
call needs to have Internet access and a separate phone line.
The other participants only need a phone. Calls are 15 cents
per minute per person and are billed to the host`s credit card.
Where`s that phone number?
AT&T`s AnyWho directory lets you find phone numbers, addresses,
e-mail addresses, the correct spelling of a name, toll-free numbers,
or even who`s living next door to you. Hard-to-spell last names
are no problem either. You just select ''sounds like'' matching
for the last-name field from the pull-down menu.
If you have a phone number and no name associated with it, you
do a reverse lookup to find the owner. Just go to www.anywho.com
and you`ll be able to search 90 million listings. There`s no
charge to use the AnyWho directory.
If you`re not Web savvy, AT&T; customers can simply dial ''0-0''
(zero-zero) from their home phone to reach AT&T`s ''00''
INFO National Directory Assistance Service. You`ll speak with
a live, helpful agent not a computer who will work with you
to locate the listing you`re looking for. What`s really nice
about ''00'' INFO is you dont need to know the area code, city
or even the correct spelling.
