SwapIt Expands Services Into Games:
From Marilyn Manson to Mortal Kombat, Site Allows Users to Enjoy One Stop Swapping
Maynard, Mass.--(COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Nov. 3, 2000--SwapIt
(www.swapit.com), the first swapping destination on the Web to offer guaranteed product quality, unmatched exchange value and the widest selection of previously owned CDs, announced today that it will expand its swapping services to include console games. This new service will give members a broader offering of previously owned entertainment products on the site -- allowing them one stop shopping and swapping. SwapIt is the only online destination where consumers swap directly with the company.
The expansion into the gaming space will launch at breakneck speed thanks in part to the recent partnership with GTR Group, a leading supplier of value-priced video games and video game accessories to the interactive entertainment industry. From knowledge to know-how, the GTR partnership allows SwapIt immediate access to the GTR video game inventory and database resources as well as a breath of experience in the industry.
“Integrating games into the SwapIt mix is a natural next step for the company,” said Howard Schneider, President of SwapIt. “Video games have a longer shelf life and the fact that previously owned games make up almost half of the unit sales of video games, we know there are consumers who have product to swap. “Games can be mastered quickly and consumers now have an on-line destination for updating their game collection. The big issue for us is making sure SwapIt offers our customer the best value and convenience on or off the web to purchase or swap for games,” continued Schneider. “With our warehouse inventory, customer service and quality guarantee, SwapIt is the easiest way to update your game collection.”
The move to expand to games will provide the more than 100,000 registered members of the six-month old site with a broader offering of entertainment products and further establish SwapIt.com as a leading Internet location for previously owned entertainment items. Last April,
SwapIt (www.swapit.com) tapped into the previously owned entertainment market by developing the leading online destination for members to swap in CDs they no longer wanted for SwapIt Bucks - site credit. Members use this credit to update their music collections with quality previously owned CDs.
People who register at
www.swapit.com can download and print out pre-paid mailing labels or order postage paid boxes to mail their merchandise to the SwapIt state-of-the-art centralized product warehouse and fulfillment center. Once the submitted merchandise passes a quality inspection test, the customer receives credit in SwapIt Bucks, which can be used as currency to purchase other products on the site.
“This is a very strong business model and a natural step forward to meet the demands of our growing customer base, “ said Schneider. “SwapIt is dedicated to making it easy to take in entertainment goods that people don’t need and giving them what they want in return.”
The Details
SwapIt launched game swapping services today and will accept games that can be played on Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Game Boy and Game Boy Color, Dreamcast, Sega Genesis, and PlayStation.
