IUMA KICKS OFF MUSICOMANIA IN SEARCH OF THE BEST COLLEGE BAND IN
AMERICA
Four Regional Finalists will open for Primus
REDWOOD CITY, California--(COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--March 8, 2000--IUMA, (http://www.iuma.com), the Internets first digital
download site, today announced the start of MusicOMania, (http://www.musicomania2000.com) the
countrys largest college band talent search contest. The contest involves 100
college campuses nationwide and will last through April 29th when four finalists will open
for Primus at San Franciscos legendary Fillmore. MusicOMania is being sponsored by Listen.com, MusicMatch,
EMusic.com and RollingStone.com.
We know there are other Battles of the Bands, commented Antony Brydon, IUMA
General Manager, but none have generated the size, scope and campus participation
that we have with MusicOMania.
In the MusicOMania contest, students are given the opportunity to vote for their
schools best band at a school wide battle of the bands or online.
Winners at each school advance by challenging competing bands at other schools in regional
online voting. The four finalists will compete on April 29, 2000 at the legendary San
Francisco Fillmore opening for alternative music pioneers, Primus. The national champion
will receive cash and prizes in excess of $25,000. Students are given the opportunity to
vote online (http://www.musicomania2000.com),
or in person at each venue.
We want to help up and coming bands take their music to the next level; and the best
way to do that is to create exposure for them, says, IUMA founder, Jeff Patterson.
By allowing fans the opportunity to rate the bands, were creating a fair
playing ground for any type of band to emerge as the winner. That ends up being good for
both the music lover and the musician.
