Hip-Hop Summit, Family Day Concert and Youth Voter Registration Drive Highlight Eve of the Source Sixth Annual Music Awards

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Oct 7, 2003--Edward DeJesus, President/CEO of The Source Youth Foundation and Dr. Benjamin Chavis, President/CEO of the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network jointly announced today the Miami Hip-Hop Summit, to be held on Saturday, October 11, 2003 at 1 p.m. at the Bayfront Park Amphitheatre, located at 301 N. Biscayne Boulevard, Miami, Florida. This event is free and open to the public, and will feature a Family Day Concert by KRS-1 and other artists.

Russell Simmons, Chairman of the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network, stated, ''We`re pleased to have The Source Youth Foundation join us in our overall national effort to encourage youth voter registration. The Miami Hip-Hop Summit, as part of The Source Youth Foundation`s Family Day Concert, will be a great celebration of the evolution of hip-hop culture.''

Dr. Benjamin Chavis confirmed that Lil` Flip and Mobb Deep will join numerous other artists for the Miami Hip-Hop Summit`s panel discussion, which will focus on youth empowerment and voter registration. ''We`re having our Summit on the eve of The Source Sixth Annual Music Awards because the attention of millions of young people will be focused on Miami, and this is an excellent opportunity to reach them with a positive message of empowerment.''

The Source Youth Foundation Family Day Concert and the Miami Hip-Hop Summit are being sponsored by the Pepsi/Hip-Hop Summit Partnership.
