Los Angeles Based Sweatshop Free T-Shirt And Apparel Company Launches Retail Stores Mixed With Art And Apparel

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Nov 24, 2003--American Apparel, the largest T-shirt manufacturer in the U.S. has opened its first retail store on Broadway in New York City to tremendous success in its first weekend, following the launch of its Echo Park store in Los Angeles. Both stores offer all of American Apparel`s products in a unique art gallery setting. This new retail venture allows consumers immediate purchasing power, while the art gallery component celebrates the urban community through photo essays from around the world, and later will serve as a venue for progressive artists to exhibit their work.

The retail stores and galleries are another platform for American Apparel to share its business philosophy of ethics through efficiency. The store will carry American Apparel`s three (3) lines: Classic Girl for women, Standard American for men and Classic Baby for infants and children. Recently, American Apparel added fourteen (14) new styles, as well as four (4) new colors and fabrics, including organic cotton, to its line.

For over four years, American Apparel has passionately produced socially responsible T-shirts and related apparel. The company has responded to the new consumer youth market through the sex appeal of the product without compromising its ethical business practices in manufacturing. Currently employing over thirteen hundred (1300) people in Los Angeles and dedicated to paying a living wage, American Apparel is continually expanding its employee programs and environmental policies, while striving to produce the best in quality and design. American Apparel`s business model represents the new industrial revolution; by leveraging art, technology and design, rather than exploiting cheap labor, the company proves to be more profitable and productive than its offshore competition.
