Accounting Scholarship Deadline is April 16th

NEW YORK--(COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Mar 13, 2003--The New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) has announced that applications are available for the Excellence in Accounting Scholarship Award. Established by the Society in 1990, the scholarship is given to college students to encourage them to pursue a career in the accounting profession.

Applicants must have financial need for the scholarship and be entering the third or fourth year of a four or five year program at a New York State college or university. Applicants should also maintain satisfactory academic performance of a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

An application for the Excellence in Accounting Scholarship Award is available from www.nysscpa.org. The deadline to apply for the scholarship is April 16, 2003.

According to Marc Zand, NYSSCPA Chair of the CPA Recruitment Committee, College graduates can expect a starting salary of $33,000 to $55, 000. Accounting jobs are available with public accounting firms, government, corporations and with self-employed certified public accountants. A more experienced CPA has a salary of $250,000 and above, says Zand. The accountants role is beyond bookkeeping into tax and estate planning, personal finance, management consulting and small business advice.

For further information and an application for the Excellence in Accounting Scholarship Award, contact Joyce Lewis at 212-719-8379 or visit the Societys website at www.nysscpa.org.
