CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Sep 4, 2003--StaffCV, Inc., a Chicago based provider of recruitment software, announced today the launch of the first ever new generation online careers guidance tool, the Internet-based `Virtual Career Counselor.`

The Virtual Career Counselor is designed to complement the work of careers advisors, counselors and teachers, and offer a greater number of students access to a list of possible career opportunities prior seeking one on one advice.

Career Counselors from Cornell University, the University of Colorado at Boulder, the University of Iowa, the University of Wisconsin, and Syracuse University have been first to adopt the new tool, by offering students free use of the Virtual Career Counselor integrated into their respective careers websites.

The Counselor`s patented interface has a uniquely graphical rather than questionnaire-based appearance, and offers a positive, personalized way for students to build a picture of how they like to work and interact with objects, people and events.

The process takes around 10-15 minutes to complete, and is designed to allow people of all levels of ability and aspiration to explore their skills and interests, identify possible career paths, develop their career plan and research options for further study and training.

The underlying mandate of the Virtual Career Counselor is to identify career options that let people do more of the things that they naturally like to do, so they will enjoy, excel and stay longer in the career they eventually choose.

Output from the Virtual Career Counselor has been validated against over 950 career options sourced from the comprehensive US Department of Labor O*Net database. O*Net provides extensive career information over a broad range of industries and job roles, and is an ongoing study funded by the US DOL.

As well as presenting very detailed job role information, the Virtual Career Counselor will soon provide students with links to appropriate courses of study at their choice of school or tertiary institution, based on the career opportunities offered by the Virtual Career Counselor.

Gary Scheier, USA-CEO for StaffCV, explains how StaffCV arrived at the concept. ''We believe we own the very best candidate job suitability profiling technology available in our recruitment software, and once we had validated it against the O*Net database, we realized it had an obvious application for career planning. We are thrilled to be able to offer this exciting tool to all students across the USA''.
