FAIRFAX, Va. & GRAZ, AUSTRIA--(BUSINESS WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Oct 31, 2001--Xybernaut Corporation (NASDAQ:XYBR) and The Graz University of Technology (TUG) today announced a partnership to offer the first undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate degree programs for wearable computing and related technologies.

The partnership was developed at the first European university-sponsored conference on wearable computers which was held in Graz earlier this month.

The TUG wearable computing degree programs, which are designed to allow students and faculty to be on the cutting edge of technology, will be included in the Electrical Engineering and Telematics curricula and will include courses such as computation, communications, signal and video processing, project and change management and man-machine interface, as well as its traditional core courses in math, physics and electronics.

The TUG wearable computing programs are expected to serve as a foundation for other universities to develop academic degree programs in wearable computing and related technologies.

''As a leading technical university in Europe, TUG currently enrolls more than 10,000 technical students in Graz,'' stated Professor Reinhold Weiss, leader of the Institute for Technical Informatics (ITI) at the University. TUG has taken a bold step ahead as the first university in Europe to offer degree programs, and to sponsor an international event in wearable computing - the future platform for worldwide computing. We are pleased to have this close relationship with Xybernaut, the recognized leader in wearable computers and communications.''

''The TUG has historically maintained an outstanding reputation for recognizing major industry trends,'' said Dr. Edwin Vogt, senior vice president of Corporate Research and Development for Xybernaut, and chair of the company`s University Cooperative Research Program. ''Xybernaut is very pleased to support ITI in its effort to bring wearable computing to the forefront of business and consumer markets in Europe.''
