The University Deploys the Campus Pipeline Web Platform and Connects Its Nine Campuses, Forming a Single University-Wide Community

SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Apr 10, 2001--Campus Pipeline Inc., a developer of Web-integration software and technologies for connecting the entire collegiate campus enterprise, congratulates Hawaii Pacific University, one of the latest schools to go live with the Campus Pipeline Web(TM) platform, on winning the Pono Technology Award for its ''HPU Pipeline project.''

Using Campus Pipeline`s Internet technology, Hawaii Pacific University linked its existing campus systems, spanning nine campuses, with new communication tools and Web applications on a single intranet.

Prior to the project, Hawaii Pacific University relied heavily on mail, flyers and other announcements to communicate information with its students, faculty and staff. With over 8,800 students and 1,200 employees at its separate campuses, Hawaii Pacific`s main challenge was to provide the right information to the right audience in a timely and cost effective manner.

Project planning, procurement, installation, integration, testing, and training on the Campus Pipeline Web platform was completed in four months. To date, the return on investment from the project includes:

-- Cost Savings. Existing hardware and software was easily integrated into Campus Pipeline`s open technology;

-- More immediate and effective communication. Information can now be targeted to specific groups through the school`s email system, reducing paperwork and redundant information;

-- Improved operations efficiency. Internet tools and resources complement classroom teaching and streamline administrative tasks;

-- Enhanced customer service. The school community and its resources are personalized and can be accessed with one click from anywhere in the world.

''The Campus Pipeline Web platform has delivered incredible results and has enlivened our community life,'' said Joe Schmiedl, director of online programs, Hawaii Pacific University.

''Students and faculty now have a stable environment for email communication, grades can be distributed faster, and our instructors have been able to spend more time teaching and counseling students rather than completing administrative tasks.''

Through the Campus Pipeline Web platform schools can integrate campus communication, academic resources, administrative services, campus news, distance learning, and all other Web applications securely together online. The Campus Pipeline Web platform uses open technology and can be fully integrated with any institution`s current information system.

March marked the anniversary of more than 20 two- and four-year public and private institutions in North America going ''live'' with Campus Pipeline.

Many schools currently running the Campus Pipeline Web platform have been ranked among the ''most wired'' schools by Yahoo! Internet Life Magazine, including the University of Idaho, Northeast Mississippi Community College, Raritan Valley Community College, The University of Scranton, Vincennes University, and Volunteer State Community College.

Other Campus Pipeline schools have been ranked among the ''2001 Best Colleges'' by U.S. News and World Report, including Appalachian State University, Mercer University, Pepperdine University, Rollins College, Saint Joseph`s University, Samford University, and The University of Scranton.
