New site highlights information about SRC students and student programs

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--May 9, 2001--The Semiconductor Research Corporation (SRC), the chip industry`s long-term research consortium, has launched a new website at www.src.org.

The site constantly updates and customizes information for individuals from SRC member companies, highlights SRC-related news that appears throughout the site, and enables SRC members to quickly find and investigate science-area content about specific semiconductor research topics. The site also highlights information for and about SRC-funded students and SRC student programs.

''Our goal is to become one of the world`s premier resources and repositories for semiconductor research information,'' said Larry Sumney, SRC president and CEO.

''This is the biggest and most dramatic transformation the SRC`s site has undergone since its online debut in 1996,'' said Michael Connelly, SRC director of information systems, architecture and technology. ''Re-engineering the site has been a top priority for more than a year. Now we`re ready to serve our members and the SRC research community in a more sophisticated way.''

SRC`s website has evolved at the same pace as the Internet. Last year the SRC`s website content grew nearly 30 percent, to approximately 22,000 pages of content by year-end. Site usage increased to more than 3,800 active users by December 2000.

SRC, based in Research Triangle Park, N.C., with an office in San Jose, Calif., is the largest continuous industry-driven university research program in the U.S. Currently, the SRC sponsors research conducted at 67 universities in the U.S. and Canada. Since 1982, SRC has funded more than $452 million in long-term semiconductor research contracts on behalf of its member companies. (Web site: www.src.org.)
