CABC`s Technology Allows Fans of the University of Oklahoma, Iowa State University and Texas Tech University to Watch Weekly Sports News at Their Desktops

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Jan 15, 2002--Three leading academic institutions -- the University of Oklahoma, Iowa State University and Texas Tech University -- have a new way of talking sports with fans: high-quality, full-screen video and audio direct to PCs.

The weekly sports and campus-news broadcasts are sent via computers to fans using Background Delivery(TM) technology created by CABC Inc., a Dallas-based digital-media company. (For a demonstration, go to http://www.cabcconnection.com/cabcdemos.)

''OU, Texas Tech and Iowa State now can reach fans with weekly broadcast-quality sports stories, and CABC is proud to make this advanced communication possible, boosting school spirit and helping athletes,'' said Scott Wilson, CABC`s co-founder and chief executive officer.

The service can serve as a fund-raising tool for school programs, generating subscription-fee revenue. CABC establishes the online channel and handles production costs until the subscriber base reaches critical mass. Thereafter, the universities and CABC share costs and revenue.

''Texas Tech places importance on communicating with students and alumni. With CABC`s technology, we can send high-quality broadcasts to fans at their desktops, and it`s another way to raise money for athletics,'' said Steve Uryasz, associate athletic director with Texas Tech.

The broadcast is not limited by slow Internet connections and is delivered only as bandwidth becomes available. When the entire message is ready to view, the university`s icon appears on screen. Subscribers click on it to view the broadcast as many times as they like.

CABC tracks and reports who viewed the program and how often. The broadcast also can ask recipients for feedback, providing the university with valuable demographic information.
