Contiki Introduces an 8-Day London & Paris Getaway For Just $965 Including Airfare

ANAHEIM, CA --(COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Jan 7, 2002--While many students will be rushing to the nearest beach for a weeklong beer fest this spring break, there are alternative options that offer just as much exhilaration without all the crowds, commotion, and coconut oil. European destinations have grown in popularity over the past decade as many college students have become more sophisticated travelers and have begun to demand added cultural and educational experiences from their spring break locales.

“Tour operators have reported an increase in interest for spring break trips to international destinations such as London and Paris in addition to the traditional Mexico, Bahamas and Florida locations,” said Mike Palmer, executive director of the Student Youth Travel Association, the non-profit, professional trade association that promotes student and youth travel. “Europe is really affordable right now and I think that we’ll see many more students heading that way for spring break.”

Contiki Holidays, the world’s largest travel company for 18- to 35-year-olds, has introduced an 8-day European Getaway that serves as an exciting alternative to traditional party-hearty destinations. Starting at just $965 including round-trip airfare from New York, Contiki’s European Getaway includes two of Europe’s hottest cities - London and Paris. Alive with energy and filled with style, these two cities offer an intriguing mix of history, tradition, fun and excitement. Travelers will start in London and have several days to enjoy the food, shopping and nightlife of Britain’s capital. Guided sightseeing tours include visits to Westminster Abbey, Tower of London, Big Ben and Stonehenge. Traveling on to Paris, visitors will experience a nighttime illuminations tour of the city plus a sightseeing tour that includes the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, the Louvre and guided tours of Notre Dame and the palace at Versailles. The itinerary offers plenty of free time for travelers to take off on their own or just relax. Prices quoted are based on twin share. Spring break departures include: March 15, March 22, March 29 and April 12.

“Europe offers many cultural and educational opportunities that cannot be found anywhere else,” said Lisa Wooldridge, director of marketing for Contiki Holidays. “Spring break is an ideal time for students to book a trip abroad - the weather is mild, there are less crowds, and the weeklong timeframe is just right for a quick trip.”

For those students that prefer to ski or snowboard during their break, Contiki offers a 7-day Ski Austria package, affordably priced from $329 including triple/quad share accommodations, daily continental breakfast and roundtrip transfers from London to Hopfgarten, Austria. Ski passes, equipment and ski/snowboard lessons are available at special rates and can be booked in advance. Spring break departures include February 22, March 1 and March 8.

With Contiki, college students are grouped with other like-minded travelers their own age from all over the world. Tours are led by young, experienced tour managers and drivers who are knowledgeable about the top attractions, as well as many out-of-the-way spots in each city.

Contiki’s European Getaways feature the following: tourist class hotel accommodations; most breakfasts and dinners; land transportation by luxury, air-conditioned motorcoach with on-board stereos and restrooms; guided sightseeing; plus the services of a professional tour manager and driver throughout. Each itinerary can be enhanced with a variety of optional excursions and extensions to meet the travelers’ individual preferences.

Because availability on spring break departures is limited, Contiki recommends that students book early. Additionally, Contiki offers a variety of group discounts to help save students even more money. Groups of 10 or more will receive a free 11th trip or 10 percent off for everyone in the group, groups of seven or more will receive a seven and half percent discount per person and groups of four or more people will receive a five percent discount per person. All passengers must be booked together for the same trip.

For more information and a free Contiki brochure, students should see their travel agent, call toll-free at 1-800-CONTIKI or log onto www.contiki.com. In business for more than 40 years, Contiki offers more than 100 escorted tours to Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand.
