The March Spectacular Targets College Spring Breakers

NEW YORK--(COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Mar 12, 2002--Zilo Networks, Inc., the leading integrated multi-platform entertainment network (live events, television and online) targeting the college market, announced today the launch of Zilo’s first annual Spring Break All Terrain Challenge: Air – Land – Sea, the world’s largest extreme sports Spring Break event sponsored by POWERADE, with the inaugural season to kick-off in Cancun, Mexico throughout March 2002.

The month-long All Terrain Challenge will take off at the legendary Fat Tuesday, the largest beachside club in Cancun. Each themed Air, Land and Sea day will include participatory, individual and team competitions for students plus professional extreme sports demonstrations that defy gravity and reason. Each week, the grueling Air, Land and Sea competitions will culminate with an awards ceremony where more than $25,000 in cash and prizes ‘including extreme sports college scholarships’ will be distributed to college participants and winners. The schedule of weekly events includes the following:

Sunday: 40 ft. Rappelling & 30 ft. Rock Climbing Wall Competitions, Team Sign-Ups

Monday: Professional Jet Ski Demonstrations, JetSki Races and Watercraft Challenge

Tuesday: Professional Skydiving Demonstrations, Parasailing Challenges, Rappelling Wall Trampoline Jump, Rock Face Wall Climb, and Trapeze Stunts

Wednesday: Professional Motocross Demonstrations and ATV Course Challenge

Thursday: Beach Party and Awards Ceremony

Each day the festivities will include DJ’s, MC’s and multiple activities to keep students entertained. At the All Terrain Challenge headquarters at Fat Tuesday, the competition’s climbing and repelling walls will soar 40 feet high into the sky above Cancun, with dramatic signage and cutting-edge competitions creating the largest festival atmosphere in Cancun’s Spring Break history. Professional extreme sports athletes scheduled to appear include Eric “Cyclone” Malone, current Watercraft National Freestyle Champion and Former World Freestyle Champion; Pro Watercross Freestylers Josh & Brad Lustic; and Professional Motocross Riders Matt Knesek, Ryan Hansen and Ryan Leyba. All sports action will be filmed for Zilo TV, Zilo’s nationwide college television network, which appears on over 215 campuses and reaches 5 million college cable subscribers.

“Zilo’s mission is to create fresh, innovative entertainment programming that grabs college students’ attention,” says Zilo’s Chief Executive Officer David Isaacs. “Along with our POWERADE partner, we’ve brought Spring breakers the biggest alternative sports and entertainment event in Cancun’s history.

In addition to POWERADE’s multiple year sponsorship agreement, The All Terrain Challenge is also sponsored by Student Loan Finance Corporation (SLFC), which provides colleges loans, assists lenders and schools with student loan programs (www.slfc.com) through BrainScratch.com™, SLFC’s flagship student loan program. During the event, BrainScratch.com will present a “money grab” with competitors plucking cash as they race to the top of the 40 ft. climbing wall, and in addition to the game give-away, BrainScratch.com has set up an innovative scholarship fund through Zilo Networks where a portion of over $100,000 in scholarship monies will go towards the first-ever extreme sports athletic scholarship fund. Additional prizing at the All Terrain event will be provided by Targus Inc. (www.targus.com), the leading global supplier of portable solutions with brands including Glacier Gear, soft-sided coolers; RakGear, ergonomic backpacks; and cdProjects, CD/DVD accessories.

“Zilo has come to dominate the college scene the way we are dominating the Air, Land and Sea in Cancun,” says Campbell McLaren, Zilo’s President and Creative Director. “It’s the sort of adrenaline activity that keeps students and sponsors dialed in.”
