BURBANK, Calif.--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--May 2, 2002--Inspired by the upcoming film ''Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood'' that celebrates the powerful and enduring friendships women share, Warner Bros. Pictures, Saks Fifth Avenue, eBay and AOL have invited prominent women across the country to design, autograph and donate personalized headdresses to raise funds and awareness for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.

Fashioned after the Ya-Ya hats featured in the film, with bits of personal mementos and distinctive items woven into their design, each hat will symbolize the events, interests and accomplishments that have helped make these special women what they are today.

Participating in this unique creative project are the film`s stars, Ellen Burstyn, Fionnula Flanagan, Ashley Judd and Shirley Knight, plus director Callie Khouri and producer Bonnie Bruckheimer, joined by successful and well-known women representing all facets of the arts and a wide range of civic and community involvement, including columnist Cindy Adams, Radio City Rockette Abby Arauz, Louisiana Lieutenant Governor Kathleen Blanco, Mary J. The complete collection of honorary Ya-Ya hats will be on display at the world-renowned Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City, May 20 through June 2nd.

Beginning May 27 and running through June 10, each hat will be auctioned on eBay, with proceeds benefiting Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, the national organization that helps bring a little magic into everyday lives by matching children with adult volunteers in fun and rewarding relationships.

The comedy drama ''Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood,'' opening nationwide June 7th, follows a group of lifelong friends who call themselves the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, as they stage an unorthodox intervention to help a young playwright unravel the truth about her eccentric mother, find forgiveness and come to terms with her difficult past.
