Brown University`s Daily Herald, University of Kentucky`s Kentucky Kernel, San Diego State University`s Daily Aztec and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaigns Daily Illini join thriving network of college media
BOSTON--(COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Sep 20, 2004--Four prestigious daily student publications have joined the College Publisher network, America`s largest network of online campus newspapers.
The Brown Daily Herald, The Kentucky Kernel, the Daily Aztec and the Daily Illini together serving over 110,000 students are some of the newest College Publisher partner newspapers for Fall 2004. Each of the four dailies has a solid tradition of distinguished, award-winning journalism and a dedication to serving student needs.
For example, the Daily Illini has been an Associated Collegiate Press Pacemaker Award winner for the past two years. The Pacemaker Award honors overall newspaper quality, and is one of the highest achievements a student newspaper can attain. Furthermore, the Urbana-Champaign paper recently snagged the 2003 Illinois Collegiate Press Association First Prize for General Excellence.
Now, the Daily Illini, the Brown Daily Herald, the Daily Aztec and the Kentucky Kernel can pair award-winning work with online excellence. The papers` brand-new College Publisher-powered websites have garnered an impressive total of 3,800 new online subscribers since the sites launched in early September.
''We`ve really enjoyed working with the professionals on the CP team to re-launch our Daily Illini website,'' Daily Illini Publisher Mary Cory said. ''We have high expectations for our online operations this year, with plans to improve our content, design and revenue. The advantages that CP allows us in simplifying our posting tasks and easily adding new interactive features on our site will help us achieve our goals. We`ve learned so much already this has been a fantastic educational experience for our student web team.''
In addition, the abovementioned dailies are only a handful of College Publisher`s new Fall 2004 partners. Fifteen campus weeklies at institutions across the nation have also joined the network, further expanding the established web of College Publisher member papers.
''Many of College Publisher`s partners joined the network to take advantage of the advanced digital publishing technology that makes it easy for editors and webmasters to better serve their readers by publishing more dynamic versions of their online and email editions of their campus newspapers,'' said John Fees, President of College Publisher.
Fees continued, ''College Publisher continues to invest in making technological advancements to increase the speed, efficiency and flexibility of our publishing platform. In addition to the HTML email edition features that include local calendars and weather, some of the latest publishing features include the ability to create custom layouts, an improved photo and graphics manager and an updated content management interface.''
