LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Jun 14, 2005--The fifth FIFA Confederations Cup premieres this month on Fox Soccer Channel, starting with a first-round match between Mexico and Brazil on Sunday, June 19, live from Hanover, Germany at 2:45 p.m. Eastern time. Fox Soccer Channel will air six key matches live from the eight-team tournament in Germany, including both semifinals and the final. The FIFA Confederations Cup will serve as a dress rehearsal for the 2006 FIFA World Cup, also being played in Germany, and will feature Brazilian superstars Ronaldinho (2004 World Player of the Year) and Ronaldo (2002 World Player of the Year), Argentina`s famed striker Hernan Crespo, and Germany`s talented goalkeeper Oliver Kahn. Participating as champions of their respective continental soccer confederations are Argentina, Australia, Greece, Japan, Mexico and Tunisia, plus defending world champion Brazil and host Germany.

First held in December 1997 in Saudi Arabia, the FIFA Confederations Cup is an official competition of football`s world governing body. Currently held every two years, the FIFA Confederations Cup will, in the future, be held every four years, taking place the year prior to the World Cup in the latter event`s host country.
