PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Aug 30, 2005--The undergraduate risk management and insurance (RMI) program of Temple University`s Fox School of Business and Management has been ranked as the seventh-best program in the nation and the school`s international business (IB)
program has been ranked as No. 16 out of more than 400 programs in the nation by U.S. News and World Report.

The Fox School and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania are the only Philadelphia-area schools to be ranked this year and also are the only two Philadelphia-area schools to be ranked as top-100 business schools for the past four consecutive years.

''These rankings are a testimony to The Fox School`s reputation, the impressive statistics of its incoming freshman class, the growth of our honors program and our excellent placement services,'' said M. Moshe Porat, dean of The Fox School.

This is the third year in a row that Fox`s international business program achieved a top-20 ranking in U.S. News and World Report.

Risk Management and Insurance

Fox`s risk management and insurance program is the second-largest such program worldwide, as recognized in 2005 by Business Insurance magazine. The program is known for the diverse expertise, research interests and productivity of its faculty; for the prestigious journals it publishes; for its actuarial science program, certified by the Society of Actuaries; and for the review seminars that Fox`s Actuarial Institute provides for professional actuarial exams.

The RMI program has an incredibly high placement rate, placing most of its students in internships and more than 90 percent in full-time positions upon graduation. In the summer of 2005, 80 Fox students in risk management and actuarial science completed internships throughout the United States.

Fox`s risk management and insurance student professional organization, Gamma Iota Sigma, has been recognized by its parent, international organization as being the best chapter in the nation 10 times in the past 12 years. The department also had the largest number of scholarship winners in the United States for the Spencer Educational Foundation scholarship, given by the Risk and Insurance Management Society.

''I`m happy to see our program, the only program to have concentrations in employee benefits management and healthcare risk management in addition to traditional risk management and insurance, receive this well-deserved ranking,'' said department chair Rob Drennan.

International Business

Fox`s international business program focuses on what it takes for its graduates to succeed in the global marketplace. One of the program`s strengths is its 12-credit language requirement. All students are required to become bilingual.

''Our globally competent students are aware of the dynamics of a globalized economy, the interactions between international politics and international business, and the role played by business firms in the U.S.,'' said Arvind Phatak, director of the Institute for Global Management Studies (IGMS).

Fox`s international business program is supported by the high quality of its faculty, its high-profile Center for International Business and Research (CIBER) -- one of only 30 such centers in the United States -- and the prestigious journal it produces, the Journal of International Management, edited by renowned general and strategic management professor Masaaki ''Mike'' Kotabe.

The Fox School of Business and Management, at Temple University, is the largest, most comprehensive business school in the Greater Philadelphia region and among the largest in the world, with more than 5,500 students, 154 full-time faculty and 45,000 alumni. Recently, The Fox School`s MBA program was ranked No. 1 in the U.S. for ''Value for Money'' by Financial Times, which also ranked Fox`s MBA program as one of the top 50 in the nation and the top 75 in the world. Accredited by AACSB International (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), The Fox School`s programs also are ranked internationally and nationally by leading business publications, including Forbes, U.S. News & World Report and Entrepreneur magazine.
