Fourth Annual Nationwide Competition for Students

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--May 30, 2001--New York Life Insurance Company is set to launch its fourth annual summer sales contest for students participating in their College Agent Intern program. Interns in four geographic zones are competing to submit the highest number of
life insurance applications during the period between June 1 and August 31, 2001. New York Life is also running a competition based on the collective sales of all interns within a General Office between June 1 and December 31, 2001.

''The New York Life Internship program gives students a chance to try on a career in the insurance industry while offering them an opportunity to have a rewarding and memorable summer,'' said Jane Conti, corporate vice president in charge of the internship program. ''The agent interns are excited about the sales competition, which will enable them to work with mentor agents as they enhance their communication skills, organizational abilities, and professional experience by selling our products and having direct contact with their own clients.''

New York Life`s Internship Program attracts over 300 students from across the country each summer. Interns obtain the skills they need to become successful agents through regular one-on-one contact with agent mentors, the active involvement of New York Life training managers and careful supervision from New York Life management. During the program, students are able to obtain their agent license and begin working with clients.
