Minnesota Life Ranked 9th On Computerworld`s ``Historical 100`` List of Best Places to Work In I.T.

St. Paul Employer Included On Annual List for 7th Consecutive Year

ST. PAUL, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--May 9, 2002--Minnesota Life Insurance Company of St. Paul, MN, which has appeared on IDG`s Computerworld annual list of the Best Places to Work in IT for seven straight years, also is included in the publication`s Historical Top 100 list, issued for the first time this year. Minnesota Life ranked ninth on the Historical Top 100 list and 29th on this year`s annual list. The lists were published in the May 6 edition of the weekly newspaper for IT leaders.

The companies on the Historical top 100 list were identified by calculating the accumulated scores from Computerworld`s nine annual surveys. Companies were ranked by the number of times they appeared on the Best Places to Work list and their rankings for those years.

Minnesota Life also received high rankings in several subcategories on the 2002 annual Best Places to Work list:

-- Number of female managers - 3rd

-- Number of days of training - 5th

-- Number of female employees - 7th

-- IT turnover - 16th

-- 1997 - 20th

-- 1998 - 50th

-- 1999 - 9th

-- 2000 - 26th

-- 2001 - 49th

-- 2002 - 29th
