LONGMONT, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Nov 6, 2003--Six Sigma training is one of the hottest ideas in business circles, and it has just become available online in a partnership between Colorado State University (CSU) Continuing Education and Breakthrough Management Group (BMG) of Longmont, Colo. The parties have announced a strategic partnership which adds online-delivered Six Sigma Certifications to CSU`s non-credit course offerings. Six Sigma is a highly disciplined approach to decision making that helps people focus on improving processes and making business decisions that are driven by data, not by guesswork.

The curriculum is organized by ''Belt'' levels similar to those found in martial arts -- Yellow, Green and Black Belts designate increasing levels of Six Sigma knowledge and skill. Delivered online, certifications are being offered at Green and Black Belt levels now, with Yellow Belt training to be offered in 2004. The intensive online certification courses provide students skills and tools they need to achieve a thorough understanding of Six Sigma concepts and analytical tools, and how to apply them to projects and processes.

''This is a natural partnership,'' said Dr. Albert Powell, director of independent learning for CSU Continuing Education. ''We want to offer high quality training in modern business techniques to our clients in Colorado and across the U.S.; we also want to offer the convenience of online training. BMG is a Colorado-based firm that has developed the online curriculum to make that possible, and their Six Sigma curriculum fits an important need.''

BMG and CSU have both offered face-to-face Six Sigma training for some time, but the online course offerings are new, designed for busy executives with limited time to travel to classes in person. The courses don`t provide academic credit, but that`s not a main consideration for most business people, according to David Silverstein, president and CEO of BMG. ''eLearning is in the education mainstream as students and business professionals embrace its convenience and accessibility without sacrificing quality of learning. CSU is an outstanding institution and we are proud to assist in their educational initiatives by providing Six Sigma training through continuing education courses offered by CSU.''

The training is substantial; the eGreen Belt course requires about 100 hours to complete, and the eBlack Belt course takes about 180 hours. CSU provides a certificate of completion to those completing either program. Course pricing for Green Belt training is $2,150, and Black Belt training is $4,950. Course information is available at the CSU Continuing Education Web site, www.learn.colostate.edu, or by calling 877-491-4336.
