The United States Distance Learning Association -USDLA- Announces Annual Election of Officers and Board Members

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Oct 21, 2004--The United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA) recently elected its 2004-2005 slate of officers and board members at its Annual Meeting held in San Francisco, California in conjunction with the Training 2004 Fall Conference and Expo, the official distance learning conference provider for the Association.

Elected President of the Association was Dr. Deborah Harrison of Austin, Texas. Dr. Harrison is Global Marketing Manager of Education and Corporate Training at Tandberg, LLC with its national headquarters in Reston, Virginia. Also elected was Executive Vice President and President Elect, Attorney Paul Roitman Bardack, Chief Executive Officer of My Jewish Learning.com, in Rockville, Maryland; Donald S. Lake of Los Angeles, California, Director of the Center for Distance and Online Learning at the Los Angeles County Office of Education as Secretary as well as Treasurer, James E. Vautrot, President and CEO of BAF Satellite and Technology Corporation of Melbourne, Florida. Dr. Darcy W. Hardy, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Director of the UT TeleCampus in Austin, Texas became Chair of the Board and Dr. Philip J.-L. Westfall, Chair Emeritus. Dr. Westfall is the Director of the Air Technology Network for the Air Force located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, in Ohio.

USDLA Board Members elected to a three year term include Dr. Richard T. Hezel, President of Hezel Associates, LLC in Syracuse, New York; Dr. Don Olcott, Jr. Executive Director of the Division of Extended Program at Western Oregon University in Monmouth, Oregon; Dr. Pamela S. Pease, President of Pease & Associates of Santa Fe, New Mexico; Marci Powell, Education Advocate for SBC in San Antonio, Texas and Reggie Smith III, Manager of Advanced Distributed Learning and Training at Booz Allen Hamilton in Alexandria, Virginia.

One year directorships include Dr. Sandy Frieden, Executive Director of the University of Houston System, Distance Education/CampusNet of Katy, Texas; Mr. William H. Jackson, Dean at the District School Board of Collier County in Naples, Florida serves as Senior Vice President for Chapters and Dr. Lloyd J. Korhonen, Director and Professor of Texas A&M; University`s Center for Distance Learning Research in College Station, Texas serves as Chair of the USDLA Advisory Board.

Other Board Members reappointed include Marshall E. Allen, Chair Emeritus and Conference Chair. Mr. Allen is the Director of the Institute for Telecommunications at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma; Marvin E. Bailey, President for the Center for Interactive Learning & Collaboration in Indianapolis, Indiana; Michael Baker, Chair Emeritus, and Vice President of Business Development at VBrick Systems in Gainesville, Georgia; Dr. Andy DiPaolo, Executive Director of the Stanford Center for Professional Development in Stanford, California; William A. Eastham, Vice President for Membership from Burke, Virginia; Dr. Denzil Edge, President and CEO of The Learning House in Louisville, Kentucky; Dr. John G. Flores, Executive Director of the United States Distance Learning Association. Also reappointed was Dr. Jolly T. Holden, of Marietta, Georgia who serves as Senior Vice President for Business Development and is also Adjunct Faculty at the School of Education for the American InterContinental University; Glenda Mathis, Chair Emerita of Margate, Florida; Dr. Janet McMahill, Chair Emerita, Interim Dean at the School of Education at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa; and Dr. Ray Steele, Chair Emeritus, Director of CICS at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana as well as Dr. Carter D. Ward, Executive Director of the Missouri School Board Association in Columbia, Missouri.
