BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Jul 8, 2004--This week, State Room opens the first ever Boston University Club. Housed in 2,500 square feet of space along the West side of the State Room complex, the BU Club provides exclusive luncheon from noon to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.

More than 12,000 BU Alumni working downtown now have a place to call home. For an annual fee, members receive complimentary car service, wireless Internet, reciprocal club privileges, and a view of Zakim Bridge, North End, and Boston Harbor.

To maintain privacy, BU Club will admit 1,000 members maximum--BU diploma not required.

''The BU Club will become the most prestigious private downtown business club in Boston,'' said Jim Apteker, State Room owner. ''This is an ideal location to conduct business and entertain.''

Located on the 33rd floor of 60 State Street, the BU Club evolved from the Bay Club. Since 1969 Bay Club members have been Boston`s business and community leaders.

BU Club`s Executive Chef Oren Peer previously cooked in four star hotels and restaurants in France and Israel. Examples from Peer`s contemporary menu include Fresh Maine Lobster Sandwich with baby arugula and endive on crispy focaccia bread, and Grilled Filet Mignon in brandy reduction.
