LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Feb 8, 2005--Fox Soccer Channel will launch next week with eight premier events in its first seven days, including two big international matches featuring England`s Senior and Under-21 national teams. The Under-21 squad, featuring a dynamic crop of rising young talent, will meet its counterpart from Holland at Pride Park in Derby on Tuesday, February 8, in a friendly match carried live by Fox Soccer Channel at 3:00 p.m. ET and repeated later that same evening at 8:00 p.m. ET. The next day at Birmingham`s Villa Park, the senior `Three Lions` squad, led by superstars David Beckham, Frank Lampard, Wayne Rooney and Michael Owen, will host Holland`s powerful `Clockwork Orange` side, featuring the likes of Chelsea`s Arjen Robben and Fulham`s Edwin van der Sar. Fox Soccer Channel will televise the friendly live at 2:30 p.m. ET, with a repeat airing at 8:00 p.m. ET.
The two friendlies will be followed on Fox Soccer Channel`s schedule by mouth-watering weekend matches from the Barclays English Premier League and German Bundesliga. On Saturday, February 12, Premiership leader Chelsea faces Everton in the channel`s first live game of the day at 7:30 a.m. ET, followed by the Bundesliga (teams TBD) at 10:00 a.m. Fox Soccer Channel will then offer up a second live EPL game on at noon ET featuring Bolton and Middlesbrough.
Fox Soccer Channel`s launch week will conclude with a set of Sunday games from the Premiership and the Argentine Clausura. A battle between Fulham and Newcastle will air at 1:00 p.m. ET, followed by Argentina`s ''Clasico'' match (teams TBD) at 5:00 p.m. ET.
