LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Mar 29, 2005--America`s youth culture and its affinity with all things soccer-related will be the theme of Fox Soccer Channel`s new weekly series, ''Fox Soccer USA,'' debuting on the channel next Tuesday, April 5 at 8:00 p.m. ET. From the game itself to its fashion, music and the newest technology must-haves, ''Fox Soccer USA'' will roam the nation profiling trends in the emerging soccer culture, all the while engaging viewers in everything they need to know about the beautiful game.
The premiere episode will kick off with a feature about the Peace Team, a group of Palestinian and Israeli youngsters aged 10 to 12, who compete in a seven-day tournament against other teams around the world. Their mission is to promote peace through soccer.
''Fox Soccer USA'' will also hit the Nevada desert to interview coaches scouting the Las Vegas College Showcase, where the nation`s top female high school players have gathered for a three-day tournament. Plus, in a segment titled ''The Training Guide,'' national women`s team member Heather Mitts will be on hand to share her technical tips, and former U.S. National Team member, Christopher Sullivan, who has previously appeared on Fox Soccer Channel as a guest-host of ''MLS Wrap,'' will offer his training tips to viewers. Wrapping up the program will be Music Fixx, where young players will share talk about what`s on their iPods.
Sharing the hosting duties for ''Fox Soccer USA'' are Brandon Johnson, formerly of ''One Life To Live'' and MTV`s ''Face Biters,'' and Lisa Mollick, best known as the host of Madison Square Garden Network`s ''Play it UP!'' Brandon and Lisa will intersperse their dialogue with in-depth profiles and interviews of athletes, coaches and mentors, plus offer informative reports about top soccer schools and youth programs.
''Fox Soccer USA'' is being produced by Brighton Entertainment in collaboration with Fox Soccer Channel. New York-based Brighton has previously teamed with Fox Soccer Channel to produce live soccer events like the ChampionsWorld Series, the popular U.S. summer tour featuring Manchester United, AC Milan, Chelsea and other top European clubs.
