KEYSTONE, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--May 17, 2005--Xythos Software, the leading developer of secure content collaboration software for the academic market, today announced the introduction of the Xythos Digital Locker Suite at the annual CUMREC Higher Education Administrative Technology Conference. The new Digital Locker Suite is intended to help colleges and universities expand the collaborative services they provide administrators, faculty and students -- while also improving their ability to respond to growing content security threats. The Xythos Digital Locker Suite was developed in cooperation with many of the dozens of institutions that already depend on Xythos solutions to manage their documents and files and is available immediately to both current and new Xythos customers.
Responding to the needs of its almost one million licensed education users, Xythos has added improved content search capabilities, expanded LDAP management and extensive context-sensitive help features to its web-enabled file management solution. Index-based content search will improve information discovery and re-use, while LDAP enhancements extend the product`s security management capabilities and improve campus-wide content security. Each of these new features is available within the Digital Locker`s updated web user interface and is easily accessible from Linux, Mac, and Windows desktops or any web browser, helping to make safe campus-wide collaboration a reality.
The University of Wisconsin-Madison ranks second among public universities and third among all universities in research expenditures and had already deployed Xythos solutions to more than 12,000 of its faculty and students. The university`s Division of Information Technology (DoIT) has been testing the new Digital Locker and, as a result, expects to expand the document and file management services offered at the campus. ''As a beta tester of the new product, I appreciate the thought that went into its development. The Digital Locker`s many new features will make it even easier for colleagues to conduct and collaborate on inter-institutional research anywhere in the world,'' stated Cathy Riley, technical consultant with DoIT at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
