moderator: OK, thanks everyone for your patience. Let's get started.
moderator: Thank you, everyone, for coming to the CP NewsLink online chat this afternoon. We are pleased to have as our guest actor Lindsay Lohan.
moderator: Today, we will be chatting with Ms. Lohan about her new movie, "Just My Luck", a 20th Century Fox and Regency Enterprises film. "Just My Luck", which co-stars Chris Pine, is brought to us by the director of "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days".
moderator: In this film, Ashley Albright (played by Lindsay Lohan) is the luckiest girl in New York City. Jake (played by Chris Pine) is a bad-luck magnet. Everything changes when they meet at a swank masquerade party, share a kiss, and miraculously swap their luck.
moderator: Now Ashley's ultra-fabulous life is going completely sour while Jake is finally living large. But Ashley is determined to track him down and steal her luck back.
moderator: The film arrives in theaters nationwide on Friday, May 12.
moderator: A copy of the film's production notes (with cast biographies) has been posted to Collegiate Presswire's website and is available for your review at https://www.cpwire.com/lucky.pdf
moderator: Additional press materials for this film and others from 20th Century Fox are available on their press website located at https://press.foxmovies.com/login.php
moderator: As you may know, Ms. Lohan has been the star of numerous movies, including "Freaky Friday," "Mean Girls" and "Herbie: Fully Loaded".
moderator: Next up, she will be appearing in Robert Altman's "A Prairie Home Companion," opposite Meryl Streep, and she has just completed filming the independent Emilio Estevez film, "Bobby," with Elijah Wood and Demi Moore. She is currently filming "Chapter 27" with Jared Leto.
moderator: Ms. Lohan is considered a "triple threat" (actor/model/singer) and began by showcasing her singing talents through her films; for the "Freaky Friday" soundtrack, she sang the closing theme, "Ultimate"; she also recorded four songs for the "Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen" soundtrack.
moderator: Her debut album, "Speak" was released in December 2004, and peaked at number four on the Billboard 200. By early 2005, it was certified Platinum. Its video was nominated for Best Pop Video at the 2005 MTV Video Music Awards. "Rumors" eventually earned a Gold certification.
moderator: By way of background, Ms. Lohan was born on Long Island, New York and separates her time between Los Angeles and New York.
moderator: Ms. Lohan, welcome to CP NewsLink!
lindsay_lohan: Hi everyone, hope you're well today.
moderator: Let's start with an opening question ... What interested you in the role of Ashley?
lindsay_lohan: I like the fact that it's a coming-of-age role in many ways, and she's an older girl, who works in a publicity firm, but also goes through a lot of ups and downs, and learns how to appreciate everything that she has accomplished in her life thus far. And I think it's setting a good example.
moderator: Now, let's turn it over to the audience for questions.
moderator: I'm sure you have many questions for our guest. In order to keep the discussion focused, we ask that you keep your questions relevant to Ms. Lohan's acting career and her role in "Just My Luck."
moderator: Participants, please enter your questions in the box indicated at the bottom of the Chat window, and click the "ASK" button. When asking a question, please be sure to list your school and newspaper.
moderator: We'll go ahead now and move to our first question...
<Q> Lindsay, what sets "Just My Luck" apart from your recent string of successful films?
lindsay_lohan: It's more of a romantic comedy than what I've been able to do so far, and it's nice to have a comedic side to it. It also has my first on-screen relationship. Overall, it's a more mature film compared to the ones that I've done before.
<Q> What is your ultimate professional goal? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
lindsay_lohan: I would like to acquire an Oscar, and I'd like to have my own charity -- amongst many other things. But I like to take every day as it comes.
<Q> Filming movies must take you all over the place. What was your favorite movie location and why?
lindsay_lohan: So far, working in Minnesota for "Prairie Home Companion" because it was my first opportunity to shoot in a much calmer atmosphere away from all the distractions that take place in the cities I live in. I like the opportunity to focus on your craft. But I did also love shooting in New Orleans, and I feel very blessed to have been allowed to shoot part of "Just My Luck" there before the recent tragic disaster.
<Q> What was it like working with Meryl Streep? Did you get a lot of acting tips from her?
lindsay_lohan: More than discussing acting with her, I observed her and Lily Tomlin. I just wanted to get a feel for how they become their character, how they work with the rest of the cast and crew. We talked about so much that it's hard to pinpoint certain things she said to me.
<Q> Do you think "A Prarie Home Companion" and your other upcoming films will erase your "teen queen" status?
lindsay_lohan: Hopefully, if all goes as planned. But I don't want to lose my teen audience because I think it's important to grow with them rather than ahead of them.
<Q> You've played some memorable characters in previous films, from Cady in "Mean Girls" to Hallie/Annie in "The Parent Trap." How do you think the character Ashley Albright fits into this collection of characters?
lindsay_lohan: Aside from the fact that they all have red hair? lol. They are all young women coming into their own and everyone goes through the ups and downs that all of my characters go through in those films.
<Q> Which do you prefer, acting or singing?
lindsay_lohan: I like both. I think they're both very similar in their own way. I use my acting in my singing, and I listen to music -- they are both releases in their own ways. I'm indecisive. I also really love the fashion industry, as well. And I like directing -- So who's to say what I will be involved in next?
<Q> What got you into acting in the first place? Parents? School? And if you didn't act, what would you be doing?
lindsay_lohan: I've been modeling since the age of three, with Ford Models. I really appreciate the art of making music, films and such -- and sending certain messages, whatever they may be -- to make a difference through my acting and singing.
<Q> What was the best part of playing the lucky Manhattan socialite in "Just My Luck?"
lindsay_lohan: Meeting people that I used for the character, just elements of socialites that I know, to perfect me playing her. It made it a bit easier to research my character. And the clothing was great!
<Q> Of all the movies you've done, which ones have you enjoyed doing the most? And why?
lindsay_lohan: I've enjoyed all of them in their own ways, and I'm excited to keep making movies that are of that wholesome quality. And I hope people enjoy them, as well. I like to make people smile in my films.
moderator: We have time for one more question.
<Q> Lindsay, were you nervous about having your first on-screen relationship in this movie?
lindsay_lohan: No, it was acting. It's just pretend!
moderator: Ms. Lohan, any closing remarks?
lindsay_lohan: Thank you, all, for your time. I look forward to speaking with you again, and I hope you enjoy my upcoming films. Peace and love.
