BURBANK, Calif.--(COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--March 1, 2007--FremantleMedia North America, producers of American Idol, are coming to a major city near you this Spring as they kick off the second season of ABCs AMERICAN INVENTOR.  A nationwide search to discover the ultimate in homespun ingenuity will make one struggling inventors dream come true with a grand prize of one million dollars and the opportunity to market their product worldwide.  Last years champion, Janusz Liberkowski, a Polish immigrant inventor from Los Gatos, California, parlayed his prototype infant car seat, the Anecia Survival Capsule, into a partnership with Evenflo, an industry leader now working with Liberkowski to help make the product a reality.

The biggest search for Americas best new invention will take place in various cities across the country, at locations that speak to the spirit of ingenuity and innovation.  Initial audition cities include Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Orlando and Houston.  Each week during the first six episodes, one winner will be chosen by a panel of judges and given fifty thousand dollars seed money to further develop and refine their product for the semi-final round.  Auditions are open to both individuals and teams, and contestants need only enter with a sketch, a prototype, or even a simple concept.  Most importantly, the invention must be something that can be mass produced and sold to consumers in a retail outlet.  In the end, it will be up to the American public to call in and place their votes for the invention they feel is worthy of the coveted grand prize.

Casting calls will be held in the following six cities:

Los Angeles        March 19, 2007
San Francisco     March 25, 2007
