Internet-Based DSST gives students a head-start on college degrees and opens new revenue stream for Prometric

BALTIMORE--(BUSINESS WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Jan. 26, 2007--Prometric, the global leader in technology-enabled testing and assessment services, today announced that it has partnered with America-Mideast Educational and Training Services, Inc. (AMIDEAST) to introduce the Dantes Subject Standardized Test (DSST(TM)) to students throughout nine Middle Eastern countries and the West Bank/Gaza Strip. Beginning December 1st AMIDEAST will offer Prometric's proprietary, Internet-based DSST exam to students at its regional testing centers in Egypt, Kuwait, Morocco, the UAE, Lebanon, Tunisia, Jordan, Yemen and the West Bank/Gaza, enabling them to jump-start their degree programs by earning advance credits in any of over 40 specialized areas.

The introduction of the DSST in the centers marks the first time that Prometric has partnered to administer its own Internet-based, proprietary exam in the Middle East, creating a new, growing revenue stream for the company. There are currently about 1,900 colleges and universities that recognize Prometric's DSST program and award college credit to students who pass.

"This is the next step in our long-standing, successful relationship with Prometric and gives us a competitive edge in these regions," said Juleann Fallgatter, Division Director of Advising & Testing Services at AMIDEAST. "Not only are we facilitating access to a test that will give these students a leg-up in their degrees, but we are saving passing students money by giving them college credits - ones they won't have to pay to earn in a classroom."

Ray Kelly, Senior VP, Sales, Marketing and Client Services, stated, "Prometric is committed to providing new learning opportunities to students worldwide, and is encouraged by the growing number of colleges and universities that accept DSST credits. Colleges that allow the credits benefit by attracting a rising number of international students who stay to earn full degrees and likely generate additional revenue for the school."

Prometric has successfully administered almost two million DSST exams since the nationally recognized program was created. Students interested in taking the DSST exam should visit www.getcollegecredit.com for additional information. Institutions interested in accepting DSST exam credits should send an e-mail to [email protected] or call 1- 877-471-9860 for additional information.
