With Content Created by a Former Elvis Presley Bodyguard, Subscribers Learn to Thwart Attackers via Full-Screen Web Video They Can Study from Various Angles; Site Offers "Flashpaper" Print Lessons and Split Audio & Video Streaming Media Tracks for Gender Choice in Narration & Future Foreign Language Dubs
LAGUNA HILLS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Nov. 15, 2005--Flying in the face of traditional rules when it comes to the ''dos and don`ts'' of constructing Web media, partners Jim Taczy, Richard Herrera and Dave Hebler have launched www.protectingwomen.com, a next-generation self-defense site for women that creates a new paradigm for versatile, user-controlled interactivity and greatly enhances the end user`s ability to study and understand material.
With the potential to revolutionize the way instruction is presented on the Web, the site uses eleven different applications of Macromedia and Adobe Suites. Besides featuring ''full-screen'' Internet Video (640x480), the layering of ''dynamic content upon dynamic content,'' and ''Flashpaper'' printed lessons, the site has split audio and video streaming media tracks that allow the user to choose male or female narration, and paves the way for easy foreign-language audio dubbing in the future.
Via four paid subscription options, users can access 12 lessons developed by 10th degree Kenpo Karate black belt and former Presley bodyguard Hebler. With models posing as a potential victim and a ''perp,'' each lesson screen is comprised of a few different components that are user-controlled, with each lesson filmed at three different angles, facilitating a comprehensive view of the technique. Videos are divided into single-move clips isolating each move. A separate audio track has been overlaid into the video stream.
Each movement is supplemented by a series of still or animated photos that highlight specific movements that may not be seen clearly on the video. Plus, each lesson will print in a time-saving ''Flashpaper'' format without having to launch a third-party program.
The site is the brainchild of Taczy, a software consultant and Kenpo Karate black belt. Recruiting his former martial arts instructor, Hebler, to create the content, he also tapped rich media expert Richard Herrera to execute the sophisticated tech vision for a women`s self-defense site.
