New Web Site Critiques Students` Work

BROOKLYN, NY--(COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Mar 23, 2001--College students now have a more convenient way to seek help with their school papers. At CritiqueMe.Com, students submit their documents online to be critiqued. In less than 24 hours (or less than 3 hours if they select the Rush service), students can pick up their paper from the site, covered in red “font.”

Victoria Matalon, the founder and President of the company, got the idea for CritiqueMe.Com when she was a senior at New York University. “Since I was the English major, my friends would always come to me, at the last minute, asking for help looking over their papers. They felt guilty taking up my time, but there was nowhere else they could go at such short notice. I didn’t have time, but I felt guilty turning them away. We both wished there was somewhere we could receive qualified feedback on our work, the night before it’s due, without feeling guilty.”

The features of CritiqueMe.Com were designed with the needs of college students in mind. You can choose between the three basic services, wittingly named, “The Tuner,” “The Tinker,” and “The Major Revamper,” depending on how much help you need (Does your paper just need a little fine tuning, or a major overhaul?). Fiction and Poetry services are also available, as well as the essential “Rush” for procrastinators. The “ReReader” service is available for students who want a “Critiquer” to look at their paper again, after they’ve made the improvements. More detailed descriptions of each service, and samples, are available on the site. At $1 - $4 per page for the basic services, CritiqueMe.Com is very affordable. There are always different promotions and coupons available to receive additional discounts. A price calculator calculates the cost of your critique as you select your services and the length of your paper. Submitting a document takes less than three minutes.

The “Critiquers” who critique the papers are all graduate students in top 25 graduate English departments. 90% of them teach their own college-level writing workshops or literature classes. 70% of them already have their Masters and are in the progress of receiving their Ph.D.’s. Occasionally, CritiqueMe.Com has “Masters” visiting, professors or professional writers, who are available to critique your paper upon request.

Students can view the status of their critique at any time when they log in. When a critique is completed, students receive a notification e-mail with a link to the page where they can view and download their current and past critiques.
