Personalized Content Delivery, Handheld Sync, Secure Transport, Group Portal, Group Maker, and Course Consolidator Extend the Functionality of the Campus Pipeline(TM) Web Platform

SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Aug 20, 2001--Campus Pipeline, Inc. reinforced its position today as the top integration software developer for higher education with the announcement of six new products that will expand the functionality and customization capabilities of its Campus Pipeline(TM) Web platform.

The Campus Pipeline Web platform serves as a foundation for the digital campus, unifying academics, administration and community life into a central network of people and services. The Web platform integrates seamlessly with SCT Banner(R) and SCT Plus(TM) student information systems, and uses open technology standards that allow integration with an institution`s existing information system and its choice of Web applications. The Web platform also includes enterprise Internet infrastructure and Web applications from iPlanet.

''Campus Pipeline offers the most robust and extensive Web platform in higher education,'' said Tom Lewis, chairman and chief executive officer of Campus Pipeline. ''We are offering schools unmatched flexibility with the key technology components that make a Web platform -- a portal, an integrated infrastructure platform, and integrated Web applications. The openness and integration capabilities are exactly what institutions of higher education have asked for so they may take advantage of new products such as those we`re announcing today, and make their own choices regarding the systems and
applications that best serve their constituents.''

The six new products will be bundled and sold as two separate packages. Line Extension Product Package Number One includes:

-- Personalized Content Delivery 1.0 -- Designed to enable institutions to make every constituent`s campus experience as unique and tailored as possible, this product will present page views based on an individual`s specific role (i.e. student, faculty, alumni) or major. Personalization extends beyond content to the design of colors and logos, allowing campus departments to save resources by leveraging the platform rather than purchasing a separate portal application. System administrators will save time by delegating content updating privileges to non-technical managers.

-- Handheld Sync 1.0 -- This product will allow information within the Campus Pipeline system to be synchronized with the increasingly pervasive handheld devices running on Palm(TM) or Windows(R) CE operating systems. The first application to be synchronized will be the Campus Pipeline calendar.

-- Secure Transport 1.0 -- This product provides an automatically configuring, point-to-point, secure data transport channel between the Campus Pipeline Web platform and any software that the institution integrates with it, preventing eavesdropping and data tampering.

Line Extension Product Package Number Two includes:

-- Group Portal 1.0 -- This product improves the way campus groups form, interact, and stay connected by providing a private Web community they can manage themselves, rather than through the IT department. It contains a streamlined workflow process that provides the institution with better control over both the groups and content created. The Group Portal will include a variety of community tools such as message boards, chat, photo gallery and news postings.

-- Group Maker 1.0 -- A product for the IT administrator, Group Maker increases the targeted messaging capabilities already provided in the platform by making it possible to target specific audiences and send announcements based on any attribute in the enterprise information system. Creating and administering group lists becomes easier and postage fees can increasingly be diverted to other areas.

-- Course Consolidator 1.0 -- In the past, instructors have had to manage course home pages for every course and course section they taught. This product allows instructors to save time by consolidating the sections and managing a single course homepage. It also helps coordinate access to the tools and information sources needed for online learning environments regardless which vendor the institution chooses.

Campus Pipeline partner institutions also have access to customizable consulting, service and training offerings. Each is designed to support the entire scope of a Campus Pipeline Web platform implementation, from assessing campus readiness and project planning to installation and rollout, leveraging the efficiencies that predictably occur with the Campus Pipeline Web platform. Premium service bundles include process and organizational design, development and integration of specialized technologies, training for students, faculty, and staff, and campus-wide communication support.

Availability

The Campus Pipeline Web platform is available today, and is being used by more than 100 institutions to support their entire campus enterprise. The two new Line Extension Product Packages are scheduled for availability by the end of 2001. For more information call 801/257-4161 or visit www.campuspipeline.com.
