NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Nov 9, 2001--New York Life Insurance Company announced today that Seth Richardson, a junior studying business management at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, is the winner of the company`s College Internship Summer Contest for the West Central Zone.

The winner was selected based on the highest number of submitted life insurance applications for the period between June 1 and August 31, 2001.

New York Life`s Internship Program attracted over 200 students from across the country this year. In this program, interns obtain the skills they need to become successful agents through regular one-on-one contact with agent mentors, the active involvement of New York Life training managers and careful supervision from New York Life management. During the program, students are able to obtain their agent license and begin working with clients.

''New York Life is proud to offer this educational, professional opportunity to young people exploring their careers,'' said Jane Conti, corporate vice president in charge of the internship program, New York Life. ''Our interns had a valuable and enriching experience this summer learning what it takes to help clients become educated about their life insurance needs.''

''My participation in this summer`s internship program taught me important lessons in building client relationships, managing my work schedule, and gave me a lot of practical field experience,'' said Seth Richardson. ''My father has been a New York Life agent for almost 30 years, and I`ve learned what he does day to day. I would like to thank my manager and the managing partner of the Baton Rouge General Office, Tom McConathy, for teaching me skills that I will utilize throughout my career, and would also like to thank my father, Larry Richardson, for being my mentor.''

A celebratory dinner and award presentation will be held today at Magelby`s Restaurant located at 1675 North 200 West in Provo, Utah, at 6 p.m. If you are interested in covering this event, please contact Jane Conti at (212) 576-7525.
