Icelandair to Rock Reykjavik With Airwaves 2001

Iceland`s Siggurros, Emiliana Torrini, Svala and Quarashi Join International Lineup

COLUMBIA, Md.--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Aug 29, 2001--Europe`s hottest adventure destination is about to play host to the world`s most innovative music festival when Icelandair presents the third annual international ICELAND AIRWAVES October 17-22 in Reykjavik.

Up-and-coming alternative artists from both sides of the Atlantic will rock the world from the top down, joining the biggest names in the Icelandic music scene.

Thousands of fans from around the globe are expected to crowd the happening nightspots and galleries of the city to hear Icelandic artists such as Mum, Minus, Jaguar, Apparat, Egill Saebjornsson, Maus, Silt and Ensimi, in addition to the popular Siggurros, Emiliana Torrini, Svala, and Quarashi. Other European and American bands will be announced shortly.

Acclaimed DJs will spin their musical magic at more than 20 major parties and concerts throughout the long weekend. Adventure tours will round out the exciting days and nights, culminating in one spectacular event - featuring renouned international acts - on Saturday, October 20, 2001.

ICELAND AIRWAVES is produced in cooperation with the City of Reykjavik and organized by Icelandair and Mr. Destiny. Other sponsors include EMI Music Publishing, MasterCard, and the Icelandic Tourist Board.

Icelandair Holidays has designed special packages for the event from Boston, New York (JFK) and Baltimore/Washington (BWI), starting from $499; add $50 from Minneapolis/St. Paul; Orlando packages are available upon request. Packages include round-trip air, 2 nights hotel, transfers, breakfast and a festival pass; three- and four-night packages also available. Prices are per person based on double occupancy and are dependant upon hotel selection; airport and other taxes not included. Some restrictions may apply.
