Insight Drops the Dot-Com as a Result of Its Expanded Business Focus
TEMPE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Sep 18, 2002--Insight Enterprises Inc. (Nasdaq:NSIT) (''Insight Enterprises'') today announced that the 2002 college bowl game that it has sponsored since 1997 as the Insight.com Bowl, will now be the ''Insight Bowl.''
The new name and a new logo will represent the company`s continued growth beyond dot-com status and more appropriately reflect its expansion in customer base, product and service offerings.
''In the past year, we have expanded our core customer base of small- to medium-sized businesses to include large enterprise, governmental and educational groups, and our sales focus continues to be based on developing relationships with our customers beyond just Internet sales,'' said Timothy A. Crown, Insight Enterprises` chief executive officer.
''As a result of our recent acquisitions, Insight Enterprises now has approximately 5,000 employees in its United States, Canadian and United Kingdom operations, and we provide more than 200,000 brand name products and an expanding list of services. We feel that the 2002 football season is a perfect time to apply the new name.''
''We are thrilled with the opportunity to continue this unique college football game under the name Insight Bowl with Insight Enterprises as the title sponsor,'' Fiesta Bowl Chairman of the Board Steve Horrell said.
''Insight Enterprises` use of this sponsorship opportunity as a mechanism to develop their future goals provides us the opportunity to grow the game as a community-based event, and makes for a bright future.''
''The Insight Bowl continues to grow and develop into a true community event with the Tempe-based title sponsor and by tying in the Pac-10 Conference into the game,'' Fiesta Bowl President John Junker said. ''The game will host teams from the Big East and the Pac-10 conferences for the first time this year. We are excited to bring this unique `East vs. West` element to Arizona for college football fans.''
Approximately 2,500 Insight employees are located in the Tempe area, and sponsorship of the Insight Bowl serves as a vehicle for promoting employees` team unity, as well as providing community support and a fun yet effective way to maintain visibility with customers.
The Insight Bowl will be held on Dec. 26, 2002 at 6:30 p.m. (MST) and broadcast live on ESPN. Updates about the Insight Bowl will be available on www.insight.com.
