PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--July 25, 2006--Facebook, the social directory that allows people to share information, announced today a back-to-school promotion to give away 10 million music samplers to Mac and PC users from the iTunes Music Store. Starting today, Facebook will give away one million, 25-song music samplers from iTunes each week for the next 10 weeks. Each iTunes music sampler will feature select songs from a different genre ranging from Alternative to Rock, Hip-Hop to Dance and Electronica.

"iTunes is the most popular digital music service in the world and we are excited to offer this exclusive giveaway of 10 million music samplers from iTunes," said Owen Van Natta, chief operating officer at Facebook. "We're always striving to provide people with the things they care most about, and with over half a million bands listed on Facebook we know that listening to and downloading music is an integral part of our users' lives."

"We're thrilled to work with Facebook on this great promotion," said Eddy Cue, Apple's vice president of iTunes. "This is a tremendous opportunity for people to legally discover and enjoy music on the iTunes Music Store through their favorite social directory."

An essential way for people to communicate, Facebook has become a daily part of 8.3 million people's lives, with more than half of them returning to www.facebook.com daily. People with a valid email address from a supported school or company can register for Facebook and create a profile to express themselves, upload photos, join groups, and share interests with their friends in a trusted environment.

With Apple's legendary ease of use, pioneering features such as integrated video and podcasting support, iMix playlist sharing, seamless integration with iPod and groundbreaking personal use rights, the iTunes Music Store is the best way for Mac and PC users to legally discover, purchase and download music and videos online. The iTunes Music Store features a selection of over 9,000 music videos, Pixar and
Disney short films, a variety of hit TV shows, and more than three million songs from the major music companies and over 1,000 independent labels.

Facebook users also have access to an Apple education discount year-round through its popular sponsored group on Facebook. As part of Apple's back-to-school promotion, Facebook users can receive a free iPod nano with the purchase of a MacBook, MacBook Pro, iMac or PowerMac G5.
