OKLAHOMA CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Aug. 28, 2007--In April Oklahoma City University School of Law partnered with the Memorial Institute for the Prevention of Terrorism to present a symposium titled "Congress' New - and Future - Law of Counterterrorism: Legislating Military Commissions, the Powers of Surveillance and the Role of the Courts in America's War on Terrorism." The event, the first of its kind in Oklahoma, brought over a dozen legal and law enforcement experts from all over the nation to discuss America's current counterterrorism efforts.
This fall OCU School of Law and the MIPT will partner once again to bring counterterrorism expert, author and blogger John Robb to Oklahoma City. Robb, author of the book Brave New War and the blog "Global Guerillas" will present a lecture Sept. 12 at OCU School of Law.
Robb graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy. In the course of his military career Robb served in a tier one counter-terrorist unit that worked closely with Delta and Seal Team 6. Robb participated in global operations as a mission commander, pilot, and mission planner, resigning his commission with the rank of major in 1992. He earned a master's degree in Public and Private Management from Yale University and began Global Guerillas in 2004. He is currently the owner of Neoplat, a new venture dedicated to utilizing platform logic to solve resiliency problems.
Robb published Brave New War in early 2007. The New York Times called it "a fast, thought-sparking book," and it was featured on the G. Gordon Liddy radio show. The Atlantic said that Brave New War was "the most important book of the year."
Robb will speak from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 12 in the Homsey Family Moot Courtroom at OCU School of Law. The lecture is co-sponsored by the Memorial Institute for the Prevention of Terrorism.
