NEW YORK--(COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--May 1, 2003--The New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants has redesigned its website (www.nysscpa.org) to include a comprehensive student section titled ''Future CPAs''.

The site is designed to provide in depth information about the accounting profession for high school and college students who are considering accounting as a career option. The site also has information for CPA Candidates. Candidates are college graduates in the process of passing the CPA Exam.

High school students can find information about the Society`s Career Opportunities in the Accounting Profession (COAP) program, a week long residency for high school juniors to learn more about the accounting profession. Students can also explore the site and find useful links that include a list of colleges in New York State with accounting programs and detailed information on life as an entry level accountant.

College students can find applications for the Societys Excellence in Accounting Scholarship which is designed to provide financial assistance to deserving students planning to enter the accounting profession. The site also has useful links which cover many topics including, how to become a CPA in New York state, information about the CPA exam and an occupational outlook at future accounting positions.

For only $5 a year, undergraduates can become Associate Student members of the NYSSCPA which includes, The Trusted Professional, the Society`s newspaper that provides accounting and NYSSCPA news and the CPA Journal, a technical publication aimed at practitioners, management, educators and accounting professionals.

For CPA Candidates, the new web page includes information about educational requirements and access to our Career Opportunities Handbook. Created by the Society, the Handbook alerts students to the diverse opportunities in public accounting firms of all sizes. For $55 a year, candidates can become associate members of the NYSSCPA. Associate members will have opportunities to network, provide technical assistance and discounts on professional education.
