Checks to Be Presented During the United Negro College Fund`s `Black College Gathering` Event

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Aug 3, 2004--Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA) (Nasdaq:NSANY) and The United Negro College Fund (UNCF) will award scholarships totaling $45,000 to ten Los Angeles-based high school seniors during UNCF`s `Black College Gathering` on Saturday, August 7th, at Ladera Park. The scholarship awards are part of a larger $75,000 donation Nissan made to UNCF earlier this year.

The Nissan-UNCF ''SHIFT_'' knowledge Scholarship program was created to recognize student academic achievement, community involvement and leadership and to honor the rich legacy of HBCUs. Scholarships ranging from $2,500 to $10,000 will be awarded to students who will be attending an HBCU in the Fall of 2004 and were selected based on several factors including their ability to meet the program`s eligibility requirements and their demonstrated commitment to leadership and academic excellence.

''The Nissan-UNCF ''SHIFT_'' knowledge Scholarship program recognizes those high performing, well-rounded students who recognize the benefit of enriching their personal and academic experiences at an HBCU,'' said Tiarzha Taylor, manager, Corporate Relations, NNA. ''The joint partnership between Nissan and UNCF supports our mutual goal of empowering our communities through investments in youth and HBCUs.''

The `Black College Gathering` is sponsored by the Inter-Alumni Council of Los Angeles in conjunction with UNCF. The event brings together those students entering or presently attending HBCUs before school begins in the Fall.
