Perfect for Zipping around the College Campus

NEW YORK--(COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Feb 27, 2001--The 21st century bicycle is here! Introduced by the Ford Motor Company, the TH!NK bike traveler and TH!NK bike fun now makes it possible for college students, professors and short-distance commuters to bicycle further, faster and easier with just the flick of a switch.

These new bicycles combine the enjoyment of traditional cycling with the benefits of a state-of-the art electric motor. TH!NK bike traveler and TH!NK bike fun are ideal for riders regardless of age or fitness level.

TH!NK bikes make it easy to conquer steep hills, ride town and the college campus without undue exertion. Made for any kind of terrain, they’re as comfortable on smoothly paved roads as on rugged gravel trails.

These revolutionary “hillbusters” retain the fun and low-impact exercise value of bicycling and most importantly, reflect the quality behind all of Ford Motor Company’s products.

“We’ve carefully researched what people want in an electric bicycle and developed TH!NK bikes to meet both recreation and transportation needs,” said Rob Stevens, president of TH!NK Mobility. “Our TH!NK electric bikes are ideal for people who want the freedom of a traditional bicycle, but also like the flexibility of letting an electric motor do some of the work for them.”

These new state- of-the art bicycles allow riders to use their own leg power, but have easy pedal-to-motor drive switching. With a flick of a switch and a twist of the grip, riders can activate a powerful electric motor to help them pedal down a road or climb a steep hill. A battery charge indicator tells the rider how much power s/he has used already, and how much is left.

Both TH!NK bicycles offer outstanding features, including comfortably padded seats. TH!NK bike traveler offers a compact, foldable frame with a simple, three-step folding procedure, and fits in compact spaces. TH!NK bike traveler can be brought along on a boat, plane, or in the backseat of a car. TH!NK bike fun has a more traditional, rigid frame. Charging requires just six hours, using a standard household outlet. A portable direct-current charger is also available for recharging from a primary vehicle or other 12-volt power source. This method takes about eight hours for a fully discharged battery.

TH!NK bike traveler has a 3-speed, 16-mile average range before recharging, and goes up to 18 mph. TH!NK bike fun, which has a 7-speed, 22-mile average range and reaches a speed of 20 mph. The standard drive system is a single-speed, direct-link transmission located in the crankshaft area.

TH!NK bikes can be ordered for delivery at www.thinkmobility.com. TH!NK bike traveler retails for $1195; the suggested retail price for TH!NK bike fun is $995.
