Gorillaz to Headline Music Festival

COLUMBIA, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Sep 19, 2001--Music fans will delight in the final lineup of international performers named today to fill the roster of musicians scheduled for Iceland Airwaves 2001 to be held in Reykjavik, October 17-22. The UK`s Gorillaz and Germany`s Chicks on Speed complete the list of renowned entertainers, along with Citizen Cope, Lake Trout, The Apes and Sparta - all from the United States - and Norway`s Tweeterfriendly Music.

Icelandic bands scheduled to perform are: Sigurros, Emiliana Torrini, Gus Gus (Dj set), Svala, Tommi White, JFM, Oskar, Delphi, Jaguar, Ampop, Atingere, Biogen, Einoma, Ilo, Plastic, Prince Valium, Skurken, Andlat, I adapt, Klink, Minus, Vigspa, Stjornukisi, Strigaskor, Solstafir, Forgardur Helvitis, Real Flavaz, XXX Rottweiler, Steypustodin, Vivid Brain, Apparat Organ Quartet, Silt, The Funerals, Bris, Fidel, Fuga, Sud, Kuai, Trabant, Utopia, Vinylisticks, Singapore Sling, Eliza, Nattfari, Luna, Ulpa, Maus, Ensimi, Dead Sea Apple, Svanur, Stolid, Land og Synir, Salin, Tvo Donaleg Haust, Nydonsk, Soldogg, Vedis and Thorunn Antonia.

Started in 1999, the festival has enjoyed tremendous success, attracting thousands of attendees from both sides of the Atlantic. More than 30 major parties and concerts will be held throughout the long weekend, with adventure tours in the nearby countryside rounding out the exciting days and nights.

ICELAND AIRWAVES is produced in cooperation with the City of Reykjavik and organized by Icelandair and Mr. Destiny. Other sponsors include EMI Music Publishing, MasterCard, and the Icelandic Tourist Board.

Icelandair Holidays has designed special packages for the event from Boston, New York (JFK) and Baltimore/Washington (BWI), starting from $499; add $50 from Minneapolis/St. Paul; Orlando packages are available upon request. Packages include round-trip air, 2 nights hotel, transfers, breakfast and a festival pass; three- and four-night packages also available. Prices are per person based on double occupancy and are dependant upon hotel selection; airport and other taxes not included. Some restrictions may apply.
